From Oxford University Press:
"The contents of Christmas Stories originally appeared in Household Words and All the Year Hound, and the majority of the stories were first collected under this title in the 'Charles Dickens Edition' of 1871. The present edition includes a number of additional pieces written for the Christmas numbers of these magazines.
Dickens received assistance with several of the stories. In particular, he collaborated with Wilkie Collins in "The Wreck of the Golden Mary', 'A Message from the Sea', 'No Thoroughfare", and ""The Lazy Tour of Two Idle Apprentices. Following the 1871 edition, certain passages, known to be by other hands, have been omitted here.
The illustrations have been taken from the 1871 Charles Dickens" Edition and from the Illustrated Library Edition of 1874. In "The New Oxford Illustrated Dickens' the hook was first published in 1956, and reprinted in 1950." (This Ecrase Leather Edition was printed in the 1970's).
