Book condition: Used - Near Fine to Fine. Free of inscriptions. Age toned. Very mild cracking between some of the pages.
Cover: Near Fine (Good). Light wear and staining to front cover. (PLEASE SEE IMAGES) Slightly bumped corners, general wear, rubbed extremities. Some wear and some staining to back cover. Spine is slightly tilted.
Bound in similar dark green cloth as the Peacock Edition of Pride and Prejudice, with matching typography and lavish gilt decoration to the front cover and spine, this volume features lovely black and white illustrations by Chris Hammond. She was an English painter and illustrator known for illustrating the works of Jane Austen and other classics. Over the past 170 years, many have attempted to illustrate Jane Austen’s characters and scenes from her novels, but few have succeeded to complement her intent as well as Chris Hammond.
A lovely copy in Near Fine to Fine condition.
